About me

I am an experienced backend developer with strong people skills. I value both team work and code quality, and I can't imagine one without the other. People usually describe me as a very serious, reliable professional and an ever cheerful, positive-minded person. I feel most driven when the product has a meaningful impact on people's lives.

I like things organized and I thrive in structured environments, even when it is me doing the organizing. My favourite color is Jira and my spirit animal is time-boxed meetings. I enjoy working in pairs, working alone, and knowledge-sharing sessions with the team. I am comfortable working from home but would be glad to go on-site in Nantes, France, where I'm based.

In my free time, I enjoy tinkering with this website, painting, drinking coffee, and playing adventure and puzzle video games.

Yseop

Natural Language Generation company specialized in Life Sciences, 90% remote position

10.2024 - 07.2026

Product Tech Lead

Over the course of 18+ months, I managed two teams composed of 2 to 5 junior to senior developers, led performance reviews, gave feedbacks in French and English, facilitated many meetings, and contributed to product design decisions about ontology and rule-based NLG features. I relentlessly advocated for automation, Domain Driven Design and good development practices.

Q1: joined an existing team of 8 as a senior developer. Developed NLG code snippets to write about Time-To-Event CSR data, and designed a new snippet framework to reduce tech debt and make them more structured and scalable, using linguistics and text generation domain concepts to create a modular pipeline.

Q2: promoted to tech lead of a new team, paired with a new Product Manager; developed new snippets for the PK/PD sections of the CSR, using the new snippet framework. Built dashboards to follow teamwork and testing day-to-day. Closely supervised QA requirements.

Q3: joined a task force to create dozens of snippets in a few weeks by leveraging AI adoption and the new snippet framework.

Q4: worked on team building to restore team morale. Joined a new task force to rewrite existing snippets, focusing on making the comparison of data completely generic across snippets.

Q5 & Q6: became the tech lead of a new team whose purpose was to develop, from scratch, a Quality Assessment tool to test LLM features across the product, to maintain and test new LLM features, and to make snippets development even more scalable.

Probably the best work environment I've seen so far.

Capgemini

IT Services

01.2020 - 06.2021

Software Engineer

This role was my first time working in French. I joined a 200-people project with 18 years of legacy code; maintained undocumented data pipelines with JMS, SQL scripts and stored procedures; successfully navigated complex PR reviews with dozens of feature toggles and testing environments; worked with sensitive information (personal data and payment data); started remote work during the pandemic.

02.2018 - 12.2019

Software Engineer

As part of the Atlassian Factory team, I developed and maintained plugins for Jira Software and Confluence; configured and administered Jira instances; audited instances for Capgemini clients; obtained an Atlassian certification: Agile development with Jira Software; was the scrum master for 6 months, and then became the acting tech lead, mentored junior developers and career-changing colleagues to facilitate their integration; attended the '19 Atlassian Tour in Las Vegas.

Yseop

Natural Language Generation company

03.2016 - 08.2017

Research Associate at INSA de Lyon

As a computer science PhD student, I occupied my time with literature review, data preprocessing, presentations, and investigating data mining algorithms; I also developed a Knime node to explore conversation data. I decided to leave the program, in order to work on more practical subjects where I could see real-world impact.

07.2015 - 02.2016

Junior R&D Engineer

I worked on an Yseop knowledge base to model generic Business Intelligence key concepts; in a team of 3, we modeled semantic content to generate graph captions in QlikView, such as bar charts or time series; I developed tests and test data to ensure generated sentences were correct.

01.2015 - 06.2015

R&D Intern (Linguist)

My internship was supervised by R. Salmon during his PhD; I transformed the X-TAG lexicalized tree-adjoining English grammar into a metagrammar tailored to the Yseop text generation engine, using the XMG compiler.
